How big do mini herefords get?
Miniature herefords must have a mature hip height of 45" or less for females and 48" or less for bulls. Heights are categorized by frame scores of 0000 up to 1. Most of our cows fall in the 00 to 0 frame size. We find this is the perfect balance between small and efficient but still good beef production.
Are your animals purebred?
All of our animals are registered with the American Hereford Association. Additionally, they are all DNA tested to confirm parentage as well as screen for hereditary diseases.
How much pasture does a mini hereford need?
This will depend on your location as well as the soil quality on your farm. Cooler climates with greater rainfall typically have the highest stocking rates. In the northeast we find that 3/4 to 1 acre per mini cow is adequate.
Why mini cows?
Mini cows are more efficient at converting grass into beef. They are gentler on the land, fencing and infrastructure. Easier to handle. More manageable quantity of beef from one animal.
